The Law Enforcement Survival Institute (LESI) works with individuals and organizations to help them create and sustain success in their lives and careers as law enforcement professionals.
Our mission of “Saving the Lives of the People Who Save Lives” extends from our “Armor Your Self™” training seminar to the Information, strategies and tools available on our website to help cops plan for happy, healthy and successful careers, relationships and lives.
The Armor Your Self™ on-site training program is an eight hour hands on “How to” seminar that helps police officers and other law enforcement professionals armor themselves physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We also teach how to Armor Your Agency™ against the stresses and traumas inherent in careers in law enforcement.
Many people who serve, and who have served, in law enforcement bear the scars of the cumulative stresses that accompany the career. The Law Enforcement Survival Institute (LESI) and CopsAlive.com work tirelessly to assemble strategies, tactics and best practices to help anyone working in this profession successfully survive their career. LESI and CopsAlive.com work with agencies and families to create environments that support healthy, happy and effective law enforcement professionals both on the job and at home.
No one argues that law enforcement is a very stressful career. What is in question however is what are the true risk factors working against a law officer? Is it really the bad guys who are killing most cops? On average for the last 10 years approx. 73 officers are murdered from the average of 163 line of duty deaths in the United States each year. The National Police Suicide Foundation reports that the numbers of deaths due to suicide are 2 to 3 times the number of line of duty deaths among law enforcement agencies and emergency workers That means that possibly as many as seven times as many officers took their own lives than those who were killed by the bad guys. Research and anecdotal evidence suggests that cops have a higher incidence of almost all forms of cancer than most Americans, and may have a higher incidence of alcoholism, divorce and perhaps financial ruin or bankruptcy. Further anecdotal evidence suggest that this in an international phenomenon with universal implications.
It is the primary goal of The Law Enforcement Survival Institute to become the preeminent source for training, resources and information about how to create and sustain a happy, healthy and successful life and career while providing superior law enforcement service to your community. We focus on total wellness for police officers to include things like financial planning for police officers, cops and relationships, cops and marriage, life planning for law enforcement officers, good health and wellness practices for police officers, and even career planning for cops.
